Speech's thoughts on Jada Pinkett Smith's Oscars message
Maybe for symbolic reasons, on Martin Luther Kings birthday, apparently unknown to husband Will Smith, wife, Jada took to social media
to eloquently explain how Blacks should no longer beg to be accepted to anything and instead create our own opportunities. This has always been my position since AD's debut album. Our songs like, Give a man a fish to new albumChanging The Narrative's "It's Star Time" and "U2" speak to this. African-Americans not being nominated for the Oscars obviously was a tipping point for Jada among others, but the depth of this reality has been around for years. Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and Frederick Douglass to name a few, have long said united we stand and united we fall. So where does Jada's bold statement take us now? In my opinion, it's time to rely less on what this countries system and elected leaders do for us. We've been victim to these things for about 400 years. Instead we must strategize on creating more Black owned institutions with the purpose of passing our history and accomplishments to our children and the generations to come. For economic stability, we must take our 1.2 Trillion dollar buying power and support Black businesses, banks and charities. This is not segregation, nor separatism, I don't believe in that at all. Instead it's only about rediscovering our stolen dignity that started in 1619. So, to piggy back off of what Jada said, our dignity in light of being ignored by the Oscars can start with an amazing award show of our own among other ceremonies that favor our contributions. We cover this issue in our new song, "Unstoppable" from the album, Changing The Narrative.
Lyrics (Last verse) "Unstoppable": "We are unstoppable! Make our own international businesses and amass a flow, celebrities from Rachet to fantastic will endorse it, so the lower and middle will invest in it with capital, small investments nothing huge something natural."
Lyrics "Give A Man A Fish": Give a Man a Fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach him how to fish and he"ll eat forever".
